Is that something I should really give a shit about? I only really want it to last another 6k, enough for the odo to roll over again. The other 3 look similar. The good news, I guess is that there wasn’t any signs of coolant in the cylinders. EDIT: I don’t really care about the oil on the outside, it’s the oil in the combustion chamber that makes me wonder.
Just to be clear, the truck has been sitting for about a year. Plugs are about 10k old.

get motorcraft plugs.

Could be an oil leak, oil getting past the spark plug tube seals. If it isn’t difficult to do on this engine, change the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals (they often come in a package together).

Oils on the wrong side of the plug.

Tube seals? I don’t think this engine has those. The spark plug is well below the valve covers. But yeah, the valve cover gaskets are planned anyways. Engine is a 2.9 cologne v6.

I second this, from the oil above the thread on the first cylinder. Nbd for 6k to go

Not really, both plugs with oil on them show signs of oil at or above the nut. From what i’ve seen its very normal for the oil to chase the thread much like diesel, PB blaster, or any other “break free” agent would once a bolt is heated.

While I don’t disagree with your second statement, all three have oil at the tip, at least one doesn’t on the other side. While a little oil on the spark plugs on a low maintenance engine aren’t a huge deal it’s definately not just valve cover gaskets.

Heard. Either way they look like dog poo and it appears as though the valve cover is leaking into the tubes. Best way to check would be replace the gasket and check in several miles. Hope this helps!

More than likely it’s valve guide seals. It’s pretty common on an engine that old and nothing to really worry about.

Good to hear. Hopefully, it’ll last til 200,000, and I’ll get a better or at least newer engine to go in it.

Drag it to 200k then slap a 4.0 in there.

Only need a few thousand more miles?Dump some really thick oil in there. Maybe that will slow the slow the leak enough to keep the plugs from fouling too quickly.

Drag it to 200k then slap a 5.0 in there.

Yes to both, depending on future transportation needs.

They’re not bad enough to worry about. When they’re black and fluffy is when you’re really burning oil. These look good enough to clean & re-use.
